Bodymovement is a creative movement class that fosters connection through movement, play, emotional catharsis and community storytelling. I utilize my background as a Dance Movement Therapist, Yoga instructor, Dancer, Musician and Performance Artist to create classes that are fun, fulfilling and physically uplifting. In a typical session, I will use movement/comedy/vocal improv games to get people loose and connected, then move into some stretching and strengthening. Then we will work on building some movement vocabulary to get ready for the group story development section. I often like to end the class or workshop with a performative element utilizing narrative and character development so that everyone has a chance to feel seen by their cohort. The need to be seen is a major tenet of the Bodymovement philosophy- while movement with others and expanding the creative mind is a huge part, creating a space for participants to hear and see each other is often the most transformative part of the work. While each class has a set structure, it is open to the serendipity of the group energy and ability level. Not only does this make the group accessible to all, but it also creates room for creativity to flow. We will practice outside and use the context of the beautiful nature of Virginia Key to guide the classes thematically. For each session I will have a unique theme that focuses on a different natural feature of the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park.

Upcoming Bodymovement Classes

Hello Everyone! Bodymovement 2022 is here! Happy to announce that we will be back at The Historic Virginia Key Beach Park!
1/20/2022- 5:00- 6:30 pm
2/16/2022 7:30- 10:00 pm ( A special Full Moon class)
2/23/2022 5:00 - 6:30 PM

For the following series we will be focusing on the embodiment of our shared experiences. We will use our bodies to explore the somewhat abrasive and strange narrative that we have all been experiencing these past few years. Using real time connection and physicality to sort through the many loose bits of information that are constantly flooding our shared experience of technology and information. We of course, will connect to the land and find the ways in which all of this can be better understood through the lens of nature.

The garden is underway and I will be making a separate post to let you know about volunteer dates.

Link to register in bio!
RSVP is required for all upcoming classes.

Please arrive 10 minutes early, we meet at the park office and then make our way back to the garden area.

A bit about me- I have a Master of Science in Dance Movement Therapy from Pratt University, NY. I am a certified Yoga instructor. My Bachelors degree is from The University of Massachusetts where I attended a self created degree program in Environmental Science and Movement as a Form of Healing. I have been holding these classes in Miami and New York since 2012.

Bodymovement June 18th and 30th on Virginia Key

  • Google Calendar ICS
This session we will continue the Land and Body Survey at The Historic Virginia Key Beach Park @virginiakeybeachpark ! We will build upon some of the idea's from the prior class and continue to explore the potential future of a mediation garden we are building/designing on the edge of the hardwood hammock, through movement improv exercises and reflection. We also will focus on release, both physical and emotional using the surrounding native environment to support and hold us through the release. There is a lot- ALOT of heavy, miserable, oppressive and at times seemingly impossible matters at hand that we all must deal with. Add to this the reality of Climate Change and general Environmental disregard. However, The Earth can still hold us, comfort us and teach us. It is crucial to remember and experience this love in order to gain the strength necessary to fight! Release into the Earth and open yourself a potentially different relationship to yourself, others and... The Earth! This is part of my current work “Repatriating to the Earth” made possible through Oolite Arts @oolitearts . Please arrive 10 minutes early and meet us by the park office, then we will head to the spot together. link to register for class in linktree in my bio <3 After class there is an Environmental Justice Discussion & Historical Tour of Historic Virginia Key Beach Park followed by a sunset beach cleanup as we dive deeper into its history as it relates to environmental justice and Black access to natural spaces at 6:30pm Spaces limited- RSVP to guarantee your spot. Information about parking and meeting locations will be sent out to registrants ahead of the event. bit.ly/tour_cleanup
